Jim Naughten

Jim Naughten nasce a Horsham (Sussex) nel 1969; vive e lavora a Londra.

Vince una borsa di studio in pittura presso il Lancing College, poi studia fotografia presso l'Art Institute di Bournmouth. Ha iniziato fotografando alcune remote tribù della Namibia e i circhi dell'India prima di adottare un approccio più narrativo nel suo lavoro.

Il progetto Re-enactors vede un ritorno al ritratto documentaristico, questa volta usando anche tecniche di post produzione per creare un'efficace intesa con i suoi soggetti e comporre immagini unendo paesaggi a scene d'azione.

Ha esposto il suo lavoro in Inghilterra e negli Stati Uniti.

Ha vinto, inoltre, numerosi premi fotografici dall'Association of Photography, e ricevuto riconoscimenti da AI – AP 24, Creative Review Photography Annual e The National Portraits Gallery's Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize.

Jim Naughten was born in Horsham (Sussex) in 1969; he lives in London.

He was awarded a painting scholarship to Lancing College, later studied photography at the Art Institute of Bornmouth. He began photographing portraits of remote tribes in Namibia and the circuses of India before adopting a more narrative approach in his work.

Re-enactors heralds a return to documentary portraiture, this time using post-production tecniques to create a powerful collusion with his subjects and composite images mixing landscapes with action scenes.

He exhibited his work in the Uk and the USA.

He has won numerous awards from the Association of Photography and been commended in AI-AP 24, Creative Review Photography Annual e The National Portraits Gallery's Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize.
